In 2002, Mohammed married Salma Bennani, whose name was changed to Lalla Salma. With this, she won the title of princess consort, something unheard of until then.

A graduate in information technology and systems analyst, with a degree in computer engineering, Salma has become famous enough in the country to always be present at official events, being a constant target of the press.

However, in 2018, suddenly she “disappeared” from the public eye, increasing rumors of a divorce with her husband. Currently, it is already known that Salma and the king are separated, but the Royal House has never made an official announcement about it.

successor to the throne

Salma’s relationship with Mohammed has given the couple two children: Lalla Khadija, 15; and Prince Moulay Hassan, 19.

As for the prince and successor to the throne, little is known about his personal life, as he is a discreet young man. However, he is seen as someone who is already preparing to take over as head of government as he usually accompanies his father on various activities.

The reason is concern over the health of Mohammed, who underwent a delicate heart operation in 2018 and has since had other health issues.
