The Brazilian women’s team suffered, but with an added-time goal from reserve Ana Vitória managed to beat strong Canada 2-1 in a friendly preparation for the 2023 World Cup on Tuesday after- noon, at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo. Thus, Brazil took revenge for the 2-1 defeat against the Canadians in a friendly last Friday in Vila Belmiro.

The first half was busy. Brazil again showed difficulties in the aerial game.

The Brazilian team opened the scoring in the 41st minute. Kerolin disarmed the opponent in midfield and fired into the attack, triggering Bia Zaneratto, who crossed the ball with no chance of defense for Sheridan.

Canada came back more dangerous in the last stage and missed good chances with Leon and Fleming. The current Olympic champion tied the game in the 15th minute with Lawrence charging a penalty from Geyse.

Brazil, despite taking risks to take the turn, rode in search of victory and were rewarded at 47. Ana Vitória took the ball inside the box and pushed it towards the net. What’s curious is that the midfielder came off the bench five minutes earlier, replacing Kerolin.

It was the Pia Sundhage-led side’s last friendly of 2022. The first game scheduled for next season is the final against England on April 6 at Wembley.
