Canada beats Jamaica and is at Paris-2024; Spain scores 5-0 in first home match after winning world title

Oh Canadacurrent Olympic women’s football champion, has secured her place for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after beating Jamaica 2-1 in Toronto and adding 4-1 on aggregate in the pre-Olympic play-offs. Canadians join the United States as Concacaf representatives at the Olympics.

Supported by its fans, the Canadian team started better, but Jamaica took the lead thanks to a free kick from Drew Spence. However, the Jamaican celebration did not last long and at 39, Lacasse headed home a corner and leveled the match.

Also with a header, Huitema scored the second goal, turning the tide and leaving Canada calm to qualify and fight to retain the gold medal on home soil.

Spain beat Switzerland in Nations League second round

Spain celebrated their first home match after becoming world champions and presented the cup to their fans in Cordoba. BonmatĂ­ scored twice with GarcĂ­a, Gabarro and Oroz closing the score against the Swiss.

In the same group, Sweden beat Italy 1-0, thanks to a Kaneryd goal, leaving them in second place, behind Spain.

In Group 3, Denmark beat Wales 5-1 and lead the group, followed by Germany who beat Iceland 4-0. In Group 2, France leads with 6 points after having beaten Austria 1-0 and Portugal are second after beating Norway 3. -2. In Group 1, the Netherlands beat England 2-1 and are second in the group, behind Belgium who drew 1-1 against Scotland.
