The Brazilian women’s sitting volleyball team won the United States, by 3 sets to 0 (25/23, 25/18 and 25/17), this Thursday 10, during the World Cup, organized in Sarajevo, in Bosnia. The team had an impeccable campaign, with five wins from five matches. The World Cup final will be against the Canadian team this Friday. The winning team wins a place for the Paris 2024 Games.

The green and yellow women’s team has won bronze medals at the last two editions of the Paralympic Games (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020). In this world, the team has a new assembly (with younger and veteran athletes), in addition to a new coach. Currently, the two sitting volleyball teams are commanded by coach Fernando Guimarães.

According to athlete Luiza Fiorese, in addition to the new configuration and the new coach, the team had an “element” that made the difference in the team: vanity.

“Being a Paralympic athlete is a great challenge, we experience trauma, we live with difficulties. When we unite, it gives power. Who is vain wants to go to the beautiful game. It gives us strength, “explains Luiza .

During the matches played in Bosnia, the athletes took great care of the care, especially of the hairstyle and make-up.

“I think in an event like this, what matters a lot is the trust factor. It says a lot about the game. Of course, you don’t think about it during the game, but when I feel good about myself, I go on the court with confidence, loving myself. I feel that today we are even better prepared,” he concludes.

The final against Canada will take place this Friday 11 at 12:30 p.m. (Brasília time).

Brazil vs Canada

Brazilians and Canadians faced each other twice at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. In both clashes, Brazil beat the rival team by 3 sets to 1.

In the Dutch Sitting Volleyball Tournament, which was held in the city of Assen, the Netherlands, in July this year, the Canadians prevailed and beat Brazil 3 sets to 0.
