Casper Ruud is eliminated at Wimbledon; Rybakina wins and calls

Vice-champion of Roland-Garros, the Norwegian Casper Ruud was eliminated this Thursday (6) in the second round of the Wimbledon men’s singles tournament, the third grand slam of the year.

4th-seeded Ruud lost to 142nd-seeded Briton Liam Broady 3-2, 6/4 3/6 4/6 6/3 and 6/0, in 207 minutes of play .

Broady will face Canadian Dennis Shapovalov in the third round.

In other second-round top-10 clashes, Russian Andrey Rublev (7) went 3-1 over compatriot Aslan Karatsev (6/7, 6/3, 6/4, 7/5) and American Frances Tiafoe (10) made it 3-0 against Switzerland’s Dominik Sticker (7/6, 6/4 and 6/2).

The American Taylor Fritz (9) was eliminated by the Swede Mikael Ymer by 3-2 (3/6 2/6 6/3 6/4 and 6/2).

Among the women, the 3rd seed, the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, won 2-0 against the French AlizĂ© Cornet, with partials of 6/2 and 7/6, in 104 minutes. In the next round, she will face Britain’s Katie Boulter.

Another top 10 qualified for the third round, the French Caroline Garcia won 2-1 against the Canadian Leylah Fernandez (3/6 6/4 and 7/6). already czech Barbora Krejcikova (10) abandoned the match against the Russian Mirra Andreeva after losing the first set.
