This Sunday morning (3), the daughter of José Carlos Delbin announced the death of the trader from Jundiaí, inventor of the Coxinha de Queijo in the city.
José Delbin was 76 years old and for 40 years he dedicated himself to the old Casa de Massas da Padroeira, where the most famous coxinha of Jundiaí was born. On social networks, Juliana, his daughter, thanked the messages of condolences.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my father José Carlos Delbin. Your Joe. Zé from the Patroeira pasta house. My father, my friend, went to sit next to the angels, he fought the good fight. Father, may God welcome you with open arms and smiles as you treat everyone around you. I love you forever,” the girl wrote. The cause of death has not been published.
Jundiaí Coxinha Cheese
José Carlos Delbim, the owner of Casa de Massas, is credited with creating the popular coxinha cheese. “I was making chicken drumsticks, then I looked at the cheese and thought, ‘What if I put that as a topping?’ “, so I put the cheese into a drumstick shape and started selling it. People started asking for it, liking it and spreading it to other cafes around town,” say it Jundiaí Tribunein 2019.
Soon, snack bars all over the city were replicating the idea and the cheese coxinha became a 100% Jundiai snack. Years later, coxinha cheese officially became Jundiaí’s heritage.
In November 2022, Casa de Massas da Padroeira closed its activities. According to family information at the time, the founders, José Carlos and Márcia, were already old and decided to rest after 40 years of activity. The couple’s daughter, Juliana, said the family decided to close Casa de Massas to take care of the hard-working couple.
