eBaythe famous secondary sales platform, announced the launch of a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT).

The initiative was carried out in partnership with OneOf, a NFT specializes in music, sports and lifestyle digital assets.

The collection of eBay will feature collectibles involving well-known athletes, such as Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky. Each athlete will have four categories of NFT — green, gilder, platinum and diamond — the green category being the cheapest, with NFT which start at $10.

In addition to this collection, eBay plans to launch other sports collections throughout this year.

Launch marks eBay’s official entry into NFTs

Even if the platform supports NFT since May 2021, the launch announced this week appears to be the first made by the company itself.

“Thanks to our partnership with OneOf, eBay makes NFTs more accessible to a new generation of collectors around the world,” said Vice President, Collectibles, Electronics and Home eBayDawn Block, in a statement.

“This is another addition to our commitment to providing great value items to the global community of buyers and sellers. eBayBlock added.

OneOf is a platform built on blockchains Tezos (XTZ) and Polygon (MATIC)both users of the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
