The State Government, through the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply of Paraná, published this Monday (28) a notice of public call for the selection of business projects submitted to financial support in the Support program for family agricultural cooperatives in Paraná (Coopera Paraná). The expected amount is BRL 31.5 million.
“The state has between 170 and 190 family agricultural cooperatives and dozens of associations born around a common objective and which need capital to achieve their object, which is why we have launched this public notice which will offer resources funds to support business projects for the sector,” said Secretary of State for Agriculture and Supply, Norberto Ortigara. “Our mission is to help them become actors in the process of building a State capable of generating income and jobs”.
The resource is transferred directly to the beneficiary entities. “Whoever receives the money will be the one who makes a good proposal, but also the one who promotes agroecological and organic production and the one who has in mind the inclusion of young people, women, indigenous peoples and quilombolas”, a- he pointed out.
The state coordinator of Coopera Paraná, Jefferson Meister, highlighted the partnership that has been strengthened between the state and family farmers with the creation of Coopera Paraná in 2019. The economic performance of family farming organizations, the lives of cooperative members and product quality,” he said.
Criteria
For business projects to be considered suitable, they must, among other requirements, involve at least 20 farmers and the entities representing them must have at least 50% plus one of the associates or members of the cooperative belonging to the category of family farmers. Regarding the raw material, it is also necessary that 50% to be transformed comes from the partners.
Cooperatives and family farming associations based in Paraná can submit projects to benefit from resources until September 27, 2023 at 5 p.m. of 2023. The formalization of the terms of promotion will take place from February 5, 2024.
The announcement foresees that 75% of the resources will be allocated to business projects of family agricultural cooperatives and 25% to business projects of family farmer associations. Of the amount intended for cooperatives, 75% is intended for cooperatives whose gross annual income – on average for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 – can reach R$4.8 million. An additional 25% goes to those who exceeded BRL 4.8 million
Of the volume of resources intended for family farmers’ associations, 75% will be directed to those which have had annual gross incomes – average of the last three years – of up to R$600,000. The remaining 25% goes to those who have exceeded this limit.
The business project classified in the notice may receive financial support of between R$100,000 and R$720,000. Entities that were supported in the last edition of the Coera Paraná program will have a maximum limit of R$180,000 for associations and R$480,000 for cooperatives, respecting the prohibitions presented in the notice.

Coopera Paraná has, among its objectives, the strengthening of family agricultural organizations so that they increasingly become instruments for improving competitiveness and income, with the financing of infrastructure, machinery and equipment. It gives priority to actions for technical and managerial assistance, training of directors, technicians and social personnel, and promotion of marketing and access to markets. The work is carried out in partnership between public and private bodies.
