GSP rules out return to MMA, but makes room to try another modality – 10/31/2022

Currently Georges St-Pierre lives the life of retired MMA and is looking for something else in life. One of them was last Saturday (29), when he made his debut as a boxing commentator.

GSP was on the show of the fight between Anderson Silva and Jake Paul last weekend in Glendale (USA), commenting on the duels of the weekend. In an interview with MMAFighting, the Canadian ruled out a return to MMA but said “you can never say no” to a future opportunity to resume his career.

– If I wanted to, I could compete in boxing. Never say never. If it’s for a good cause, something well organized, who knows? I could box or grapple. Who knows? But my time of proving I’m the best is over. I continue to train, but now I have other priorities in life. When I go to train with someone, when I train with someone, I still manage to do it. “But my heart is gone,” said St-Pierre.

Away from fighting since 2017, the former UFC middleweight and welterweight champion even tried to fight Oscar de la Hoya in the noble art, but claimed he was stopped by the UFC from doing so. TO DO. From now on, without a contract with the entity, he will be able to seek other modalities, but he does not necessarily want to return to MMA.

– Maybe I fight because I am in the entertainment business, boxing or grappling. Something more relaxed than MMA. Not MMA, something safer, less risky because it’s not something that’s my priority. Why not? If it’s something done well… But if it’s a boxing match with little gloves… I don’t want to,” GSP said.

– Being here in this fight reminds me why I don’t miss it. It’s something I can’t stand, stress and all. I never liked fighting. I fought because it helped me to be what I wanted in life, to have the freedom to do what I wanted with whom I wanted, when I wanted. That’s why I fought. Nobody is 100% free, but I can say that I am more free than the others – added the Canadian.
