The event promoted by the Ministry of Health includes the presentation of the “batcu”
The Ministry of Health announced this Saturday (7) that it had dismissed and started the process of dismissing the employee responsible for an event marked by a dance performance considered “inadmissible” by the department.
This fact, which provoked a reaction from part of the political class, occurred during the 1st Mobilization Meeting for the Promotion of Health in Brazil. The event took place in Brasilia this week.
A video recorded by meeting participants shows a woman twerking, facing the audience. In a statement, the Ministry of Health indicated that this was an isolated episode.
“The Ministry of Health emphasizes that this isolated episode does not reflect the policy of the ministry nor the objectives of the debate on health promotion held at the meeting.”
According to Minister Nísia Trindade, the director of the Department of Prevention and Health Promotion, Andrey Lemos, took full responsibility for what happened.
The ministry also informed that it had created an events curatorship, linked to the minister’s office, to assess “whether the proposed participations are appropriate to the conduct and institutional mission of the Ministry of Health”.
In a video posted on social media, the Minister of Health said she was respecting schedules in São Paulo at the time of the episode.
“Unfortunately, I was surprised by yesterday’s episode and I have come, through this video, to apologize very sincerely for what happened and to reiterate the commitment of the Ministry of Health to ensure that its “Events reflect the conduct and orientations of the Ministry of Health and the Government led by President Lula,” he declared.
In the publication, Nísia also reinforced the department’s commitment to strengthening the SUS “with an inclusive vision, with respect for diversity and with the appreciation and strengthening of democracy.”
