Isaquias Queiroz shines with four medals in Canada

Isaquias Queiroz will never forget his time in Halifax, Canada. In seven days, with disputes at the World Cup and the Pan American Sprint Canoe Championship, the Brazilian athlete won four medals, closing the cycle with gold in the C1 500m this Friday 12.

At the Worlds, the canoeist from Bahia won gold in the same event and silver in the C1 1000m, of which he is the Olympic champion. At the Panamericas, the Brazilian idol was even better, climbing to the top step of the podium in both modalities.

“Another medal for me, the fourth in two weeks,” celebrated Isaquias shortly after his new triumph in the C1 500m. He opened the conquests by winning gold in the same event on Saturday, and completed the saga this Friday.

Third in the C1 1000m final on Thursday, Canadian Connor Fitzpatrick improved in the C1 500m and took silver, followed by Colombian Alejandro Rodriguez. Isaquias took the lead with 1min49s60.

Brazil closed the competition in Halifax with two more bronze medals on Friday, with Ana Paula Vergutz in the K1 1000m and with Vagner Souta in the K1 500m.
