WE
Nine US citizens were killed, a spokesperson for the country’s National Security Council said.
“We express our deepest condolences to the victims and families of all those affected and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” they said.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in contact with our Israeli partners, particularly local authorities. »
The identities of those killed have not yet been confirmed, while others remain missing.
Among them is Hersh Golberg-Polin, a citizen of American-Israeli nationality, who has not been heard from since Saturday morning (7/10).
According to the Jerusalem Post, he moved to Israel from California, United States, with his family at the age of 7 and completed his mandatory military service in April 2023.
In an interview with CBS, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Michael Herzog, said he understood that Americans were among the hostages taken by Hamas, although it was unclear exactly how many.
Canada
Global Affairs Canada, a Canadian government agency, said it was aware of reports that one Canadian citizen had died and two others were missing.
Ben Mizrachi of British Columbia is one of them, CTV News reported.
Mizrachi graduated from King David High School in Vancouver five years ago and was attending an event in southern Israel, the school said.
The agency said there were 1,419 Canadians registered in Israel and 492 in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip – but estimated that registration was voluntary and likely represents an incomplete number of its citizens.
British Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express his “deep condolences”.
Canada encouraged its citizens to register with Global Affairs Canada and made an emergency telephone number available.
UNITED KINGDOM
An official told the BBC that more than 10 British citizens were dead or missing.
Nathanel Young, a Briton serving in the Israeli army, has been confirmed dead. Two other British citizens, Jake Marlowe and Dan Darlington, are missing.
Marlowe worked as a security guard at the music festival in the south of the country. He is considered missing.
Bernard Cowan, from Glasgow, Scotland, was also identified by family members on social media as having been killed in the attack.
He grew up in the Glasgow area and moved to Israel, where he lived with his wife and three children.
The north London school attended by Young, 20, is “devastated” by his death, the headteacher said.
He attended the same school – JFS Jewish School in north London – as 26-year-old Marlowe.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he had assured his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, of the UK’s “unwavering support as Israel defends itself”.
France
Two French people have been killed in Hamas attacks, according to the French Foreign Ministry, and 14 others are missing.
The representative of French citizens abroad, Meyer Habib, said that one of the hostages taken by Hamas was a 26-year-old from Bordeaux who was participating in the Supernova festival in southern Israel.
He said the man’s father told him that his son, Avidan, was being held hostage by Hamas.
Thailand
Thailand said 18 of its citizens had been killed, according to the latest figures.
At least 11 Thai citizens were taken hostage, the Foreign Ministry said.
Thailand’s Foreign Ministry said air force planes were ready to fly its citizens home.
There are around 30,000 Thais in Israel who work in agriculture, many of them near the border with Gaza. The Foreign Ministry says 3,226 people want to be repatriated from Israel.
Nepal
Nepal said 10 of its citizens were killed.
The country confirmed on Sunday that they were students who had gone to Israel to work and acquire knowledge in an agricultural company.
Another 265 Nepali students also work in various farms, while another 4,500 Nepalis work as farmers.
Germany
German-Israeli citizen Shani Louk was reportedly excluded from the Supernova festival, but it is not yet clear whether she is alive.
“My daughter, Shani Nicole Luke, a German citizen, was kidnapped with a group of tourists,” her mother, Ricarda Louk, said in a video after the attack.
The German Foreign Ministry also said that it had to assume that Germans were among those kidnapped by Hamas and that it believed that these people were also Israeli citizens.
Austria
The Austrian Foreign Ministry claims that three Austrian Israelis who were in southern Israel may have been taken hostage by Hamas, but the situation is still unclear and there is no confirmation.
Italy
An Italian couple who lived on Kibbutz Be’eri are among those missing in southern Israel, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said.
The husband and wife, who have dual nationality, did not answer the family’s phone calls, he told Italian television. “We hope to find them, but for the moment we have no news. They were probably taken hostage,” he said.
Brazil
Itamaraty confirmed this Tuesday (10/10) the deaths of Ranani Nidejelski Glazer, 23, from Rio Grande do Sul, and Bruna Valeanu, 24, from Rio.
Both were attending a rave party in the desert, 5 km from the Gaza Strip, when they were attacked on Saturday (10/07) by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Israel. The two men have since disappeared.
Another Brazilian was injured in the attack and one is still missing.
Bruna lived in the town of Petah Tikva, Israel. She immigrated to the country in 2015 and was studying social communications and sociology at a university in Tel Aviv.
Cambodia
The country’s Prime Minister, Hun Manet, confirmed that a student had been killed.
China
According to the Israeli Embassy in China, a Beijing-born Chinese-Israeli woman named Noa Argamani was among those evacuated from the Supernova festival.
The embassy released a video of what it claims was the kidnapping.
Paraguay
The country’s government said two of its citizens were missing, without giving further details. The national press reports that a couple was killed.
Mexico
Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena wrote on social media that two Mexicans had been taken hostage, but did not provide further details.
Ireland
Kim Danti, a 22-year-old Irish-Israeli woman, is missing.
Irish broadcaster RTÉ reports that she was last seen at the music festival. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the Irish embassy in the country was dealing with the matter.
Tanzania
The Tanzanian embassy in Israel is trying to locate two Tanzanian students who were doing a management internship.
Ambassador Alex Kallua said his team was in contact with around 350 Tanzanians across the country, the majority of whom are students.
