Ramsay Hunt syndrome is an infection of the nerves in the face and ear that can cause facial paralysis. It is caused by the herpes zoster virus.

“I want to update you on what’s going on, obviously as you can see in my face. I have a syndrome called Ramsay Hunt, because of this virus attacking the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and made my face paralyzed,” he explained.

“As you can see, that eye isn’t blinking, I can’t smile on that side of my face, that side of my nose isn’t moving. It’s total paralysis on this side of my face“, describes Bieber.

“For those who are frustrated with the cancellation of my upcoming shows, I am not physically fit to do them. It’s pretty serious, as you can see. I wish it wasn’t, but it’s time to take care of my body and I have to take it slow. I hope you understand,” he said.

“I will use this time to rest and relax in order to find 100% what I was born to be. In the meantime, I need to relax to find my face. I love you, thank you for being bear with me, I’ll get better. I’m doing all the exercises to get my face back to normal, it’s only a matter of time, but we don’t know how much exactly“, he pretends.

“But it will be fine, I hope. I trust God and I hope this happens for a reason. I don’t know what it is right now, but in the meantime I will rest. I t love,” Bieber concludes.

Earlier this week, Justin Bieber postponed three shows from his world tour. He would sing in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday (7) and Wednesday (8) and in Washington, USA on Friday (10).

“I can’t believe I’m saying that. I did everything to get better, but my illness is getting worse”, he wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (7), before revealing the syndrome.

“My heart is broken to have to postpone these upcoming shows (by doctor’s order). To all my audience, I love you guys so much and I’m going to rest and get better!

The singer was also diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2019.
