Guatemala (Guatemala) – Brazilian tennis has two representatives in the ITF J30 final in Guatemala, on hard courts. Gustavo Albieri, 15, and Nauhany Silva, 13, from São Paulo won the semifinals on Friday and look for their first titles on the International Federation’s 18-year-old world circuit.
Gustavo Albieri beat the Spaniard Enrique Lana Almeida by 6/0 and 6/3. The opponent in the final will be the 1st local Marcos Castellanos, 17 years old and 475th in the standings. Already Nauhany Silva has beaten 16-year-old Ukrainian Aleksandra Kyselova, seed 3 in the tournament and 673rd in the standings by 6/2 and 6/4. Her next rival is Costa Rican Nicole Alfaro, the first seed and 397th in the standings.
The tournament in Guatemala gives 30 ranking points to the champions and 18 to the second. Currently, Gustavo Albieri is in 1535th place with 23.25 points, while Nauhany Silva is in 2012th place with 15 points. For the composition of the ranking, the six best results in singles in one year and 25% of the six best scores in doubles are taken into account.
Already by Arhus ITF J60, on clay in Denmark, Enzo Kohlmann de Freitas, 16, from São Paulo, is in the semi-finals. Third seed of the tournament and 409th in the standings, he beat the Swiss Luc Wieland 6/3 6/4. His opponent in Saturday’s semi-final is Finland’s Linus Lagerbohm, seeded number one and 329th.
Two doubles titles for the Brazilians
Friday saw two doubles titles for the Brazilian juniors. Rafael Ferreira and Canadian Dani Szabo were champions in Guatemala, beating Gustavo Albieri and Mateus Ranciaro by 6/4 and 7/5. Ferreira, 15, is 785th in the standings and wins the 2nd ITF. In the J30 of Trujillo, Peru, Bruno Malacarne and Kauã dos Santos beat hosts Nicolas Baena and Vicente Monge by 3/6, 6/2 and 12-10. Bruno, 16, wins his first ITF. Kauã is 18 years old and won his second title.
Victor Winheski makes a semi-final of the 16-year-old tournament in Italy
Minas Gerais’ Victor Winheski is in the semi-finals of the 16-year-old Tennis Europe tournament held in Milan. He defeated the German Jan Smrcka this Friday by 6/4, 6/3. The opponent in the semi-final will be the Italian Michele Mecarelli. In doubles, the Brazilian and the Bolivian Santiago Lora are in the final and face the Portuguese João Morgado and the Hungarian Kolos Kincses, seeded.
