Brazil will have nine finalists in boxing
Double world champion and Olympic medalist, Bia Ferreira is looking for gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago. This Thursday, the boxer beat the American Jajaira Gonzalez 4-1 in the semi-final of the under 60 kg category. Tatiana Chagas is also in the final of the under 54 kg category and is assured of an Olympic place in Paris. The two enter the ring in search of the title this Friday.
Viviane Pereira faced one of the toughest rivals of the Games. The Panamanian Atheyna Bylon, world champion in the under 75 kg category, beat the Brazilian 5 to 0. The Brazilian thus won bronze at the Pan, but without a place at the Paris Games.
Luiz Nascimento, known as Bolinha, also had the worst against the American Jahmal Harvey. Despite a good start, the Brazilian lost to his rival 5-0 and won bronze in Santiago. However, he will have to seek an Olympic place during the world qualifications.
Yuri Falcão also won the bronze medal. The Brazilian was beaten by Canadian Wyatt Sanford 5-0 and finished in third place in the 63.5 kg category.

Women’s team wins silver in volleyball
A medalist at the Rio 2016 Games, Felipe Wu won the bronze medal for Brazil in sport shooting, in the 10 meter air pistol category. This was Felipe Wu’s second medal in the event, having won gold at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. His compatriot Philipe Neves Freitas finished in fourth place, but had the only score of 10.9 in the final – considered the perfect shot.
Brazil faces Colombia in women’s basketball
The Brazilian women’s handball team paid no attention to the Cuban team and scored an impressive 49-11 victory at the Pan American Games in Santiago. With this result, Brazil advances to the semi-finals of this sport, which will be played this Saturday.
