In beach volleyball, Brazilian duos seek to break a twelve-year taboo – Metro World News Brasil

Since 2011, when Juliana Silva and Larissa França won the beach volleyball competition at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Brazil no longer knows what it means to win a gold medal in this competition. Their last beach volleyball champions at the Pan were Juliana Silva and Larissa, for women, and Alisson Cerrutti and Emanuel Rego, for men. Because this Friday, October 27, at 6 p.m., there is a good chance that this taboo will fall both among women with Ana Patrícia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Silva Ramos, Duda, and among men with André Stein and George Wanderley, who count among the best on the Beach Volleyball World Tour.

Considered the best of the World Tour, with four victories in five stages, the duo formed by Duda and Ana Patrícia is in the final against the Canadians Wilkensen and Humana-Paredes. In the last matches, the Brazilians have taken the upper hand. At the end of September, on the Parisian stage of the World Circuit, they beat their rivals from the Pan Final de Santiago 2023 by 2 sets to 0, with shares of 21/10, 21/19. “The Canadians are very good and we will have to study a lot what they did in this championship to develop a strategy,” says Ana Patrícia. “We are prepared and motivated to fight for the title.” In their semi-final at the Beach Volleyball Arena at Parque Peñalolén, the Brazilians beat the Americans Corinne Quiggle and Sarah Murphy by 2 sets to 0, with 21 to 11 and 21 to 18 in the two sets.

In the men’s competition there will be Brazilians and an atmosphere of revenge, since the Brazilians André and George will face, in the decision for the gold medal, the Cubans Jorge Alayo and Noslen Díaz, who beat them in the group stage .

To reach the final, the Brazilians had to face the Chilean duo, formed by cousins Estebán and Marco Grimalt and a noisy Arena, where the fans were very supportive of the home team. With ease, taking advantage of the nervousness and mistakes of their rivals, the Brazilians closed the match with 21-13 and 21-17. From now on, the two Brazilian pairs are doing everything they can to try to get back to the highest place on the podium.
