A pianist, a soprano and a “trans-American” repertoire capable of surprising and pleasing the most demanding ears in the world. These are Mélodies Trans-Amériques (or Melodias Transamericanas, in free translation) which will take the stage of the CTJ Hall of the Casa Thomas Jefferson this Friday 27, from 8 p.m. Entrance is free and there is no need to collect tickets in advance. The concert will also be streamed live on Thomas’ YouTube channel.

In this special concert, soprano Élisabeth Nivet and pianist Louise-Andrée Baril bringing from Canada to Brasilia a musical spectacle that encompasses everything from popular songs arriving in New France to contemporary creations by a Brazilian in Paris, including French-speaking poetry from Haiti arranged in musical format by a young Canadian-Haitian composer . It is a lyrical art through the specific style of “French melody, voice and piano on poems”, in Portuguese and French.

“The idea for this project was born following the “Soleil Rouge” recital, in 2022, at the Verdun Summer Festival, in France, when we put together a complete program of 20th century Spanish composers, the desire to deepen this approach. the Brasilia recital was born, because it allows us to embody the universe of different composers through specific techniques,” explains Élisabeth Nivet.

The show is presented in Brasilia by Casa Thomas Jefferson, as part of the Sextas Musicais project, an initiative that offers the public every week, free of charge and in person, performances of the best Brazilian and international music. The project’s presentations have already become quality references among the public, artists and specialist critics. Casa Thomas Jefferson benefits from the support of the United States Embassy for the organization of cultural events.
