Rafaela Silva lost in the first fight against the Turkish Hasret Buzkurt and Jessica Lima lost in the round of 16 to Canadian Jessica Klimkait.

Rafa was considered a favorite in his category, he had won the Antalya Grand Slam (TUR) title and Jessica is on the rise this season. Injured, Daniel Cargnin did not compete in the 73 kg category. He is the current Masters champion in the category.

Jessica made an excellent debut. Calm down, he gave two waza-ari at the Czech Vera Zemanova in three minutes of combat. With yet another waza-ari, she defeated Kosovo’s Flaka Loxha in the next round.

In the round of 16, the Brazilian had a difficult confrontation against the world champion in 2021 and the bronze in 2022 and Tokyo-2020. Klimkait struggled, as Jessica was able to escape the blows. However, already in the middle of the fight she managed to hit a waza-ari.

She still tried to draw and turn around, but the Canadian defended very well and qualified for the quarter-finals.

Rafaela was surprised by a waza-ari soon with 15 seconds of combat. She tried to react, but the Turkish woman was better and didn’t let the Brazilian fight. When the clock showed a minute and a half into the fight, she suffered the ippon and to the surprise of many was knocked out in the first fight.

After the fight, Rafaela said that the opponent had her merits: “The fight was fast, it was her honor, she ended up surprising me. She studied me a lot. Judo is that.” .
