Last year, Global Finance, a renowned financial magazine, published an updated study on the 50 safest banks in the world. According to the report, KfW Bank (Germany) is the safest bank on the planet, followed by Züricher Kantonalbank (Switzerland) and BNG (Netherlands).
No Brazilian bank is on the list of the 50 safest banks in the world. On the other hand, the Germans and the Canadians are the most cited in the ranking, with six representatives each. Countries like Australia, the United States, France, Sweden and Switzerland also stand out in the list, with four banks each among the most stable.
The preparation of the ranking takes into account long-term credit ratings, in addition to the total capital invested in each financial institution. For this structuring, the Global Finance report incorporates the ratings of specialized consulting firms such as Moody’s Investors Service, Standard & Poor’s and the Fitch.
Another detail that attracts attention in the ranking is the maintenance of the top 10 banks, whose positions remain unchanged compared to the previous study.
What the Global Finance report says
In addition to the ranking, the Global Finance study also pointed to several aspects of the current economic context. One of the points highlighted by the report was the resilience of the banking systems and their respective financial institutions in the post-pandemic context, which managed to maintain satisfactory financial performance in the context of the health crisis.
Although the financial impact has an impact on current economic activities, the report revealed that institutions have responded positively, mainly by refining banking business models. In addition, the advance of digital platforms was highlighted, allowing the sector to offer new solutions at this critical time.
