Andre de Freitas completes his professional cycle at the institution and Paulo Misk takes over as new CEO

The director-president of the Renova Foundation, André de Freitas, has completed his professional cycle within the institution. When communicating the decision to employees on Wednesday (5), he stressed that the choice happens to devote himself to personal projects.

The new CEO, Paulo Misk, will take over on July 10.

Andre de Freitas started his work at Fundação Renova in 2018, as Director of Programs, the area responsible for socio-environmental and socio-economic programs for the repair of the Fundão Dam breach.

“I took over the presidency of the Renova Foundation in January 2020 and, after three and a half years of one of the most rewarding and stimulating projects of my career, I communicated to the institution my desire to end this professional cycle and devote myself to personal projects”, explains Freitas.

Prior to joining Fundação Renova, Paulo Misk worked at Largo Inc, a Canadian ESG reference company that has been producing vanadium in Brazil since 2014. The manager holds an engineering degree from UFMG and previously worked at Anglo American and AMG, between other companies.

“The Renova Foundation will remain committed to repairs, prioritizing deliveries established in the Transaction and Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TTAC) signed between Samarco, its shareholders Vale and BHP, the federal governments, Minas Gerais and Spirit of Santo. he says.

Repair

According to information disclosed by the Renova Foundation, the repair comes at a time of substantial deliveries. Families are moving to the Bento Rodrigues neighborhood (Mariana) and, in Paracatu, the first keys have been delivered.

By May 2023, more than 417,000 people had received R$14.1 billion in compensation and emergency financial assistance.

Integrated actions for forest restoration, spring reclamation and remediation are taking place along the Doce river basin and aim to improve water quality. As of May 2023, 30 billion reais had been earmarked for actions to repair and compensate for the violation.
