Brazilian judo continues to reap excellent results in the youth categories. After the gold of Clarice Ribeiro (44kg) and the silver of Sophia Câmara (63kg) during the U18 World Cup in Zagreb, the youth team returned to the mats this Friday 8 and shone at the Pan American Championships and Oceania.
Of the 15 Brazilians registered for the competition, 13 returned with medals. With the reinforcement of world medalists, Brazil won 10 gold medals, two silvers and one bronze, and dominated the overall continental medal rankings.
Highlights for the champions Lucas Yamamoto (50 kg), Samuel Silva (55 kg), João Lira (60 kg), Bruno Nóbrega (66 kg), Luiz Antonio Oliveira (+90 kg), Clarice Ribeiro (44 kg), Nycolly Carneiro (48 kg), Eduarda Bastos. (57kg), Sophia Câmara (63kg) and Dandara Camilo (+70kg).
The silver medals went to Nicole Marques (48 kg) and Lucas Ribeiro (81 kg), while Alexandre Albano II (90 kg) won the bronze medal.
Ten countries participated in the competition in Canada: Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and United States.
The under-18 athletes will return to the mat on Sunday 10 for the mixed team competition.
This Saturday, individual competitions will take place in the Junior class (Under 21), with the participation of 14 Brazilians.
