This Friday afternoon, the first free practice of the Canadian GP took place at Formula 1, to Montreal. The heavy rain preceding the activities did not hinder current world champion and championship leader Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who finished the activity with the best time of 1min15s158.
Shortly after, comes the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, from Ferrari, with 1min15s404 and, closing the first three, the double world champion Fernando Alonso, from Alpine, clocked a time of 1min15s531, being the surprise of the day.
In fourth place, championship vice-leader Sergio Pérez, the Dutch sensation’s Red Bull team-mate, finished practice with a time of 1min15s619. Fifth, Monegasque Charles Leclerc, third in the drivers’ championship, with 1min15s666.
Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished sixth and eighth respectively. The 24-year-old Briton clocked 1min15s822, while the seven-time world champion clocked 1min15s877. Among them was local driver, Canadian Lance Stroll of Aston Martin, who set the same time as Hamilton.
The second free practice session of the Formula 1 Canadian GP takes place this Friday, from 6:00 p.m. (Brasilia time). Qualifying takes place on Saturday at 5 p.m., and the race, meanwhile, will start at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
