Women’s sitting volleyball in Brazil is world champion and guarantees a place in Paris 2024

The Brazilian women’s sitting volleyball team conquered the unprecedented title of world champion this Friday 11. The event takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia. The Brazilians beat the Canadians by 3 sets to 2 (25/23, 18/25, 25/21, 17/25, 15/06). With this feat, Brazil confirms its first place at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The Canadians were in the lead for most of the first set, but the Brazilians turned to close at 25-23. In the second set, the Canadian team opened up an advantage over the Brazilians and closed the set at 25-18 Brazil were defeated by Canada, 25-21, in the third set. The fourth set was again dominated by the Brazilians, 25 to 17.

The match was decided by tie-break. Ádria was responsible for the last point after 1h55min of the start and obtained the unprecedented medal for Brazilian women’s volleyball at the World Championships.

The Brazilian women’s team has won the bronze medal at the last two editions of the Paralympic Games (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020). In this World Cup, the team has had an impeccable campaign, with six victories in six matches. The United States defeated Slovenia 3-0 to win the bronze medal.
