A young man explains why he saved 115 cats whose owners died

Young Angela Rafuse, who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, made the decision to found the NGO “My Grandfather’s Cat” (“My grandfather’s cat“, in free translation) to redeem cats of deceased elderly people. Indeed, when the guardian dies, almost always no member of the family is ready to take care of the animal that remains.

In 2019, Angela found herself needing to take care of mackenzieyour grandfather’s feline.

The old man died in December of the same year, and the young woman had two options: adopt the animal or entrust it to a shelter. She had the first option!

The scenario she found herself in made Angela realize that many families go through this, but unlike her, some – for some specific reason – cannot take in the little animal.

Knowing that these kittens who had just lost their owners would be sent to a shelter, I saddened you.

Angela shared her story in a video she posted on the NGO’s Instagram profile on May 18. The publication has more than 911,000 views and thousands of comments.

“How beautiful that her legacy lives on and so does she. You are an angel and the work you do is a blessing and a comfort to many.

“As an elderly person and myself the owner of a senior cat, I really appreciate how my grandfather’s cat helps so many animals and people,” said another.

“I adopted my first cat when my neighbor died and no one in his family wanted to take him in. I’m allergic to it, but I couldn’t bear to think that the cat would have a home for ten years of its life and spend the rest of its life in a cage. So I took him in, now I got a second one and I’m a cat allergic woman for life,” a third shared.
