Social media posts have spread that the photo of the president’s leg injury Jair Bolsonaro (PL) caused by erysipelas would be false. According to content circulating on the networks, the image was in fact taken from an anti-smoking campaign, published on cigarette packets.

December 4, Carlos Bolsonaro disclosed the image of his father’s leg wrapped up on his Telegram channel. “Erysipelas developed on my father’s leg. Photo taken a few days ago. I was informed that at this stage he was already recovering and everything is going very well”he writes next to the photograph.

Contrary to what Internet users say, the photo was not taken from anti-smoking campaigns published on cigarette packs. A search on the Anvisa among the images used on the cigarette packs, he did not identify any similar to that of the officer’s injury.

the website of Agency also lists diseases that can be caused by tobacco consumption, but does not include erysipelas among them.

THE erysipelas it is a non-contagious infection caused by bacteria entering the skin, which can spread through the lymphatic vessels. It is more common in diabetics, obese people and people with impaired circulation in the veins of the lower limbs.
