José Norberto Flesch, a journalist famous for always giving first-hand news of international shows in Brazil, has confirmed that singer Shawn Mendes will play a few shows in the country in mid-May 2023. Estimates have been made by the journalist since June 2022.

The concerts would be part of the tour Tour of wonderspromoting the Canadian singer’s fourth studio album, wonder. The tour started in June, but had to be canceled in July 2022 due to health reasons.

In early 2023, Mendes began rescheduling canceled dates in Ireland, Portugal, England and other countries in Europe, raising expectations for the visit to Brazil. So far, there is no official statement released by the singer’s team.

There are also no details on which cities will host the shows, but Mendes is one of the most cited names to take part in the festival. The city, which will take place in September in the city of São Paulo. The singer has been listed by several national news outlets alongside big names in music, such as Rihanna, BLACKPINK and Nick Minaj.

Shawn Mendes and the relationship with Brazil

The Canadian singer visited Brazil for the first time during Rock In Rio 2017. The singer spent a few days in Rio de Janeiro to fulfill the show’s promotional calendar, in addition to participating in some programs such as the Huck’s Cauldron.

In 2018, the singer returned to Brazil to perform at the Villa Mix festival in Goiânia. The singer came for a unique performance at the festival. Their sold-out show was a success. On his Instagram, the musician paid tribute to the country with a video of the performance: “With all my heart. Thanks Brazil. I love you so much”.

In 2019, the singer had to cancel two shows in Brazil for health reasons. But Mendes has previously said in an interview with Hugo Gloss that he wanted to buy a house in the countryside and would like to live here.
