DF condos are rewarded for their sustainable initiatives

Community gardens, composters, sensory gardens, photovoltaic panels… Such initiatives will reward 11 condominiums in the Federal District. The NGO promoting the tribute is the Arapoti Institute. The idea was to reward the entity’s partner institutions that have distinguished themselves in the application of sustainable measures for the community. The event is scheduled for December 8, at CREA Auditorium, Asa Sul.

There are nine types of stamps that will be delivered. One of the award categories is Sustainable Condominium, divided into 11 sub-categories that assess different forms of sustainability.

The following condominiums are in competition: Le Grand Valle (Águas Claras), Le Club (Águas Claras), The Point Residence (Águas Claras), Península (Águas Claras), Prof. Vivaldi Moreira (Águas Claras), San Francisco II (Tororó Ecological Park), Jatobás Gardens (Mangueiral Gardens), Olympic (Guará), Vivendas Friburgo (Sobradinho), Mansões Colorado (Lago Oeste) and Jardim Europa II (Sobradinho).

“I say recognition is not even for Arapoti. It is a recognition for the people who have taken up the challenge to transform and who are making this transformation,” said the president of the Institute, Dai Ribeiro.

In the Waste category, the winners were the residential condominiums Le Grand Valle, The Point and Península, all located in Águas Claras. All three apartment complexes have a community organic garden which allows residents to have free organic produce

Le Point has stood out for proving that it is possible to have a vegetable garden even in a small space, as is their case with the vertical garden, changing the traditional garden for a collective garden. In addition, zero waste selective collection is present in all, reinforcing the importance of waste sorting. At Grand Valle, everything that is organic and thrown away is turned into fertilizer through composting.

Also in Águas Clara, The Club was the winner of the year in the category of waste in commercial areas. There they organize campaigns to recycle electronics, medicine and even cooking oil. In addition to zero waste selective collection.

The co-ownership of Prof. Vivaldi Moreira will receive the Energy Seal award. The site uses solar energy through photovoltaic panels. Thanks to this initiative, it was possible to save R$53,000 and avoid the emission of 9,000 tons of CO2.

The Vivendas Friburgo condominium is located in Sobradinho and will obtain the label for the largest green space per inhabitant. It has 180 thousand square meters. It has sports fields, playgrounds and recreation areas for residents.

Olympic, on the other hand, is located in Guará and will win the label for the best vegetable garden in small spaces. It has a community garden, free access to organic food, socialization, health and wellness for residents.

Jardins dos Jatobás is located in the Mangueiral Gardens and will receive the quality of life, effluents and waste label. It has a zero waste selective collection so that the residues are properly disposed of and the organic residues transformed into fertilizer by composting.

The San Francisco II will get the quality of life seal. It is located in the Tororó Ecological Park and just 2 kilometers from the Tororó Waterfall. It has a concierge, rounds, an event room, selective waste collection, 3 green spaces, several projects in the field of the environment, and is in the process of being regularized.

Mansões Colorado, meanwhile, is located in Lago Oeste and will receive the Waste and/or Quality of Life label. It was founded in 1989. The condominium is in balance with nature, many green spaces, woods, a sports field, a playground for children, a gym for the elderly among the waterfalls and the native reserve .

The Jardim Europa II condominium is located in Sobradinho and will receive the quality of life label. It was officially born on October 12, 1997. With their own resources, the inhabitants paid for the installation of services such as the public lighting network, the water supply system, through the drilling of wells and the respective subsidies , the acquisition of water tanks, water, asphalt paving streets and other infrastructure services.

The Prize is not a competition between participants, but a recognition of those who practice sustainability, given as “seals”. Among them are waste seal, quality of life seal, best ergonomic vegetable garden, waste seal, energy seal, largest green space per capita, commercial area waste seal , the best waste management index.

The participating institutions are Abrace and AAJM, while the schools are Escola Canadense and Cantinho do Girassol, the participating company is Mc Donalds da 506/507 Norte, which has a community garden and a composting practice.
