UFV and São João Batista Hospital begin to resume their partnership

The rector of UFV, Demetrius David da Silva, the pro-rector of Community Affairs, Bruno Henriques, and the director of the Center for Biological and Health Sciences, João Marcos de Araújo, met this Wednesday afternoon (4 ), the new superintendent administrative director of the São João Batista Hospital (HSJB), Belmiro Amandio Damas Filho. This was the resumption of the partnership between the institutions, aimed at broadening and qualifying the fields of practice of UFV students and professionals in the health sector.
The management of the University recalls that the HSJB was accredited as a UFV University Hospital in 2013, by Interministerial Order No. 3.159, of 12/19/2013. However, because the hospital directors considered the partnership with UFV to be unhealthy, the University management interrupted the cooperation agreement in March this year. “With the new director of the hospital recognizing the importance of the partnership, we are about to resume it,” said the rector. He also stressed that Wednesday’s meeting is also part of the University’s efforts to help Viçosa and the region overcome the crisis that affects the operation of the hospital.
During the meeting, the administrations of UFV and HSJB discussed the details of the new agreement and welcomed the return of the partnership, which promotes the training of students and the quality of care provided to the population by the System of Unified Health (SUS).
