Doctor Luizinho (PP-RJ) will be the new leader of the progressives in the House. The MP was elected by acclamation during a meeting between party MPs this Tuesday (12).
It is up to the current leader, in this case André Fufuca (PP-MA), who goes to the Ministry of Sports, to call the elections. There was no opposition candidacy for the parliamentarian, who had been on leave since the start of his mandate.
Luizinho was Secretary of Health for the state of Rio de Janeiro. His dismissal was published in the Official State Gazette this Tuesday (12). The deputy succeeded her, Cláudia Mello, and maintained her appointments. He returned to his mandate as leader. It is a name that pleases both the president of the party, Ciro Nogueira, and the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira, also from the PP.
However, some more pro-government party parliamentarians did not like the name. They felt that this choice was an attempt by the party presidency to have someone less in power and to maintain the independence of the party, despite Fufuca’s entry to the Esplanada dos Ministérios.
