The headquarters of the new Primary Health Care Unit (UAPS) in the Serra Verde neighborhood, inaugurated this Saturday (15), will serve approximately 4,000 people in the space that will now also house the Family Health Strategy team (IS F). .

According to the Municipal Department of Health (Semusa), the unit has the capacity to support two family health care teams.

The service capacity will increase from 3,200 to 4,000 users, which will also benefit the inhabitants of Bairro Rinaldo Campos.

The former Osvaldo Machado health unit operated 20 years ago in a small rented house, without its own structure to provide care and without accessibility.

The Secretary of Health, Alan Rodrigo da Silva, stressed that the inauguration of the unit will respond to a need for regularization of the physical structure, within the framework of the program to strengthen the physical network of primary health care, which has carried out paintings and renovations in several units.

The works carried out by the town hall began in December 2021. It took 16 months to work on the construction project, designed to ensure accessibility in all service areas.

The unit has 430 m² of built area, divided into 38 rooms. In all, there are seven medical offices, two dental offices, a vaccination room, a changing room, two covered waiting rooms, a vaccination room, a health workers’ room, an equipment collection room and all the supporting environments for servers that will operate on-premises.

The health post has no steps or ramps in any area.

The building was also equipped with four 1,000 liter water tanks to respond to possible supply interruptions. The whole building was covered with tiles and metal structure and encased in plaster to improve thermal comfort.

The team will consist of a doctor, a nurse, two nursing technicians, five community health workers, a dentist, an oral health assistant and two general service assistants. There will also be support from the multidisciplinary team of the Extended Family Health Center (NASF) with a nutritionist, a psychologist and a social worker.

The second team has already been accredited by the Ministry of Health, which will allow the hiring of another doctor and a nurse. The new health unit will also have the collection of laboratory tests, which was not done before.
