President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed this Thursday (5) a decree that provides for the payment of the thirteenth of social security beneficiaries. A total of 30 million people will receive the transfer in two tranches, in May and June, according to the usual payment schedule of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).
The total investment will be R$62.6 billion. Insured persons and beneficiaries of Social Security who, during the year 2023, received aid for temporary incapacity, aid in the event of an accident, a retirement pension, a pension of death or assistance with incarceration benefit from the allowance.
The allowance is usually paid in the second half of each year, in August and November. According to the government’s assessment, the measure “represents a significant injection of resources into local markets”.
São Paulo is the state that will receive the highest transfer for the payment of the annual bonus considering the two months of payment. There will be R$17.7 billion in resources. Next comes Minas Gerais, with R$6.9 billion in transfers, followed by Rio de Janeiro (R$6 billion), Rio Grande do Sul (R$5 billion), Paraná (R$3.67 billion ) and Bahia (3.6 billion BRL).
