The group that bought Celg-D owns two of the worst energy distributors in the country

Equatorial, the company that acquired Celg-D from the Italian company Enel, operates in the distribution of electricity in the states of Maranhão, Pará, Piauí, Alagoas, Amapá and Rio Grande do Sul. The acquisitions of Companhia Estadual de Energia Elétrica do Rio Grande do Sul (CEEE-RS) and Companhia de Eletricidade do Amapá (CEA) are recent, in 2021.

In the group, CEEE and Equatorial Maranhão were considered the two worst electricity concessionaires in the country in 2021 among large companies. The information comes from the performance ranking of distributors, published by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) in March this year.

According to the document, the equatorial Maranhão was in 28th position, in the penultimate place. CEEE ranked 29th, the last position. In the same ranking, Enel Goiás recorded the third worst serve and was in 27th place. The company was acquired for nearly 1.6 billion reais.

The survey also showed that Equatorial Pará ranked 7th among major concessionaires. Enel-SP came 19th; Enel-RJ, 23rd; and Enel-CE, in 25th.

indicators

According to Aneel, the distributor performance list is based on Global Continuity Performance (DGC), formed by comparing data on the duration of power interruptions (DEC) and the frequency at which they occur (FEC). against established limits.

Data from Aneel shows that residents of Rio Grande do Sul served by the CEEE went 18.06 hours (DEC) without power in 2021, not counting the 9.26 hour limit set by the agency. In the state, the company serves 1.7 million consumers.

The 2.6 million consumers served by the equatorial Maranhão spent an average of 29.15 hours without energy last year. The number also shows a lack of respect for Aneel’s imposed limit of 16.06 hours.

At Equatorial Pará, a company that did well last year, consumers were without power for 22.15 hours, less than the 26.22 hour limit set by the agency.

The report contacted the Equatorial Group, but there was no response until the publication of this report.
