Oh American dollar remained the most traded foreign currency in Brazil in September, according to a survey carried out by Travelex Confidence – a company specializing in foreign exchange. However, compared to August, the total trading volume decreased by 5%. Despite this, it still exceeds the monthly average reached in 2019.

Among the five most traded currencies, the only one that saw an increase during the comparative period was the yen. Occupying fifth place in the ranking, Japan’s official currency showed an increase of 23% compared to the previous month, remaining above the average of previous years. “This growth was driven by the liberalization of visas by governments, encouraging Brazilian tourism to Japan,” explains the director of the Travelex Confidence group, Jorge Arbex.

Completing the ranking of the top five most traded currencies in September, the euro comes in second place, with a decrease of 3%, followed by the pound sterling (-2%) and the Canadian dollar, which recorded the largest variation negative among the five currencies with -34%.
