Triathlon and wrestling guarantee gold medals in Brazil at the Pan

On Thursday, the gold medals were won with great emotion by Brazil at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. In triathlon, Miguel Hidalgo won the race in the final sprint, finishing a few seconds ahead of two opponents. In wrestling, also known as Greco-Roman wrestling, Giullia Penalber was champion in a hard-fought final against a Canadian.

Hidalgo’s race took place in Viña Del Mar. The Brazilian did not start well in swimming, and only in cycling did he manage to get ahead of the pack. However, it is in the race that he takes the lead. In a thrilling final sprint, he finished the race with a time of 1:46:08, just one second ahead of American Matthew McElroy and three seconds ahead of Mexican Crisanto Grajales.

Among the women, Vittoria Lopes led the race in swimming and cycling, but lost strength in the race and finished in eighth place, with a time of 1:59:03.

Historic gold

In wrestling, Giullia Penalber became the second Brazilian to win gold in the sport in the history of the Games. She was champion in the 57 kg freestyle category, beating Canadian Hanna Taylor 7-6 in the final. This is the second Pan American Games medal for Giullia, who won bronze in Lima, Peru, in 2019.
