The aim is to make Porto one of the main LGBTQIAPN+ destinations in Europe

Founded in 1983, the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) is the world’s leading network of tourism businesses that host people LGBTQIAPN+. Its main mission is to promote equality and safety in the world’s diverse tourism sector and, for this, it has members in more than 80 countries.

After the entry of Turismo de Portugal, Turismo do Porto e Norte, through the Associação de Turismo do Porto, is the first Portuguese region to join this network, in a partnership that was formalized last June, when the LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.

With its entry into IGLTA, Turismo do Porto e Norte takes another step on the path it has followed to become an increasingly inclusive destination. The objective is to organize several short and long-term initiatives, promoting the training of its associates in this segment.

“Anyone who knows us knows that this is a region that stands out, among many other attributes, for being hospitable and inclusive. Those who visit us feel good, and that is why many choose to make this region their home. Joining IGLTA is further proof of this. We want to make Porto e Norte more and more inclusive and make it one of the main LGBT-friendly destinations in Europe. Being a member of IGLTA will help us a lot in this regard and we are ready to work with IGLTA and its other members”.
