Winning Professor World will be the first international experience for several professors

“It’s never too late to add knowledge and develop new teaching strategies. What we have observed in our schools is an active participation of students in activities in which they are the protagonists. For this reason, we are going to look for new pedagogical techniques that make possible this type of movement, fundamental for the new generation”, explains Ana Barth de Oliveira, teacher at the Colégio Estadual Aldo Dallago, in the municipality of Ibaiti, in Norte Pioneiro, selected to discover Canada as part of the Gaining the World program.

Leading classes for 20 years, the pedagogue, who has accumulated vast experience in the educational field, does not hide her enthusiasm for the experience she is about to live. “It will be an incredible experience,” he adds.

The launch of the Ganhando o Mundo Professores program took place this Monday (28), at the Palácio Iguaçu, in Curitiba. Conducted through the State Department of Education of Paraná (Seed-PR), it promotes the continuous training of teachers in the public education network through experience in foreign language countries.

In this first stage, 99 education professionals from Paraná will travel to Canada and Finland (which are references in the International Student Assessment Program), where they will have the opportunity to come into contact with innovative teaching methods, applied in the best educational systems in the country. the world, and will exchange teaching experiences and practices with professionals who apply other teaching methodologies.

The trips are scheduled for October and the immersion period will last three weeks (for the 75 teachers going to Canada) and four weeks (for the 24 teachers going to Finland).

A teacher in the state network since 2011, Corine Vanessa Costa works at the head of the Alfredo Parodi and Pio Lanteri public schools, both in Curitiba, and she too is worried. Encouraged by her colleagues in the network, she signed up for the selection process and, after being selected to participate in immersion in Canada, the mix of emotions was inevitable. This will be his first professional experience outside of Brazil.

“The mission is to build expertise on all pedagogical fronts, but the thrill of knowing another culture and adding experiences is indescribable,” he says. Among the teacher’s goals is connecting with other teachers who will participate in the program, in addition to networking with Canadian professionals. “Establishing a network of contacts in the field of education is fundamental, as it facilitates the sharing of knowledge and good practices, and also promotes enriching collaborations that stimulate development and innovation in the field of education. “.

The program also includes the first international trip of the teacher Andreia Bach, from Colégio Estadual Frentino Sackser, Marechal Cândido Rondon, to the West. “For me, it’s a big dream come true. I’ve always had this desire, I’ve always wanted to have such an opportunity. I’ve never been to another country, so I have a double expectation” , he adds.

For the teacher, the exchange must be a professional and personal step. “I am very worried about everything I will see in Canada, which is a world reference in education. And even more worried about what I will be able to bring to my school and my students, by being able to apply it in our reality,” he added.

English teacher Camila Alves, from Mercedes, in western Paraná, feels the same way. “As an educator, it is a great emotion to know a country that is an example of good practices and good results. I am very happy to have an opportunity that I never imagined I would have”, says- She.

WINNING WORLD TEACHERS – In its first year, Ganhando o Mundo Professores is an extension of Ganhando o Mundo, an international exchange program created to enable the expansion of students’ cultural and academic repertoire, allowing them to live and experience the reality of other countries. For this first edition of the program for teachers, 3.9 million R$ have been invested.

Similarly to the student version, in Ganhando o Mundo Professor, the costs of food, accommodation, transportation, issuance of visas and passports, air and land tickets, medical examinations, vaccines, travel and health insurance, registration fees, tuition Abroad, teaching materials, uniform and sworn translation of school documentation, orientation meetings as well as the preparatory foreign language course are funded by Seed-PR.

The selected teachers participated in a public notice opened by the Ministry of Education. The selection took into account two criteria: experience in the Trainers in Action program and a didactic test, in which it was necessary to prepare an action plan addressing a problematic situation in the school environment and a proposal for a solution. Vacancies were open to faculty or educators in the course and to teachers or educators training in all areas of the state.

It was also necessary to pass an English proficiency test, which determined the country of destination of the participant. The candidate who had a mark equal to or higher than B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), was classified for vacancies in Finland (where the course will be taught in English). Those with a grade lower than B2 were classified for vacancies in Canada (where the training will be in Portuguese).

Teachers selected for Canada will also follow a preparatory English course offered by the Ministry of Education, in order to be able to communicate in the country.
