Canadian Prime Minister apologizes for honoring Ukrainian Nazi veteran

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologized in Parliament for honoring a Ukrainian veteran who fought alongside the Nazis during World War II. The tribute took place during the Ukrainian president’s visit to Canada.

“O The Speaker of the House of Commons was solely responsible for inviting and recognizing this man. He fully accepted this responsibility and resigned. TIt was a mistake that deeply embarrassed Parliament and Canada. All of us who were in this House on Friday deeply regret having stood up and applauded, even though we did without knowing the context. It was a Horrible violation of the memory of millions of people who died during the Holocaust. And it was very painful for the Jewish people,” says Justin Trudeau.
