Pimenta, future Secom, confirms Lula’s meeting with foreign delegations

The future Minister of the Special Secretariat for Communication (Secom), re-elected Federal Deputy Paulo Pimenta (PT-RS), indicated that the graduate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was meeting foreign delegations this Saturday. According to the parliamentarian, many of these leaders wish to have the opportunity of a bilateral meeting with the PT.

“The president receives foreign representatives,” he told reporters in the afternoon at the hotel where Lula is staying. “We have a large number of representatives of foreign delegations and President Lula is paying full attention to this,” he said. “There are still a lot of people to receive.”

According to Pimenta, Lula is “excited” and “ready” for the inauguration.

During the day, there was a movement of embassies who arrived at the hotel to meet the graduate president.

So far, representatives from the embassies of Canada, Chile, Germany, Russia, Guinea Bissau, Spain, South Korea and Japan have arrived.

The American Embassy is expected.

The future Secom clarified that the schedule of meetings with foreign leaders is one of the factors that will weigh on Lula’s decision to attend the funeral wake of Pelé, who died Thursday at the age of 82.

The King of Football’s funeral wake will be held in Vila Belmiro, Santos, on Monday. “The president is making a big effort to leave. We had planned for him to leave on Monday,” he commented.

According to him, if Lula decides to go in the wake, the president must “accelerate a little more these bilateral meetings with foreign representations so that there is no pending agenda”.
