São Paulo and Canada renew their cooperation agreement

The Government of the State of São Paulo received this Tuesday morning (19) a Canadian delegation at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, led by the Canadian Ambassador to Brazil, Emmanuel Kamarianakis. The meeting took place to sign a protocol of intentions between the State of São Paulo and Canada. The new agreement aims for cooperation in the areas of trade, sustainable science and technology, ESG, justice and public security, as well as culture and the creative economy.

Lucas Ferraz, Secretary of International Trade, spoke about the main projects of the São Paulo government. “We pay particular attention to sustainability issues and I think it could not be otherwise, given global conditions and the great concern that all countries have today with regard to climate change and green transition. We believe that Brazil, São Paulo and Canada have many opportunities to work together to create synergy between our two countries,” Ferraz said.

Emmanuel Kamarianakis, Canadian Ambassador to Brazil, noted that the country must seek strategic partnerships. “The agricultural capacity of Brazil and São Paulo is of fundamental importance for us. We are investing heavily in agricultural technology and I think there is a natural link on this path,” he said.

Kamarianakis was accompanied by Caroline Charette, Consul General of Canada in São Paulo. The delegation was received by the Secretariat of International Affairs, as well as by representatives of the secretariats of Culture and Creative Economy, Environment, Logistics and Infrastructure, and by Ambassador Irene Vida Gala, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in São Paulo.

Economic development, sustainability and the state’s investment portfolio were also discussed during the meeting. “We want this partnership to bear many fruits. We know where our companies are and where our investors are, and we want to continue expanding this connection with the State of São Paulo,” concluded the ambassador.
