Trump’s participation in Home Alone 2 is cut on Canadian television – 12/26/2019

Home Alone can’t be missed this Christmas, but apparently Donald Trump can. At least that’s what a Canadian channel did, which removed the participation of the current North American president from the second film in the franchise, released in 1992.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) excluded Trump’s appearance – which lasts about 10 seconds – from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York to add commercials, the network reported.

“The scene with Donald Trump was one of several scenes that were cut from the film to adapt it for television, because none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were made in 2014, when we first acquired the film and before Trump was elected president in 2016,” said CBC spokesperson Chuck Thompson.

Viewers who noticed the edit rushed to Twitter to comment. While some supported CBC’s decision, others complained because the classic film had a cut scene.

Recently, the president himself spoke about his participation in the film. “Well, I’m in Home Alone 2 and a lot of people talk about it every year, especially at Christmas.” Son of the current US president, Donald Trump Jr. criticized the network’s decision on Twitter.

In response, Bill Prady, producer of series such as The Big Bang Theory, gave details of Trump’s participation. “The production wanted to film at the Plaza, which was owned by Trump at the time. Trump insisted that any film shot on his properties had a role for him. Because he’s a bag of ego,” a- he explained.
